This is a strip of metal between two stone blocks at the base of the outer wall of a chapel at Princeton. Disturbingly, it appears to have been gnawed at by a squirrel or rat.
ETA: I had thought this was lead, but perhaps it's zinc. Still not great for the squirrels, I'm sure.
